Now we move into the next great movement of the story—the story of liberation. In these weeks, we journey with God’s people from slavery to freedom, from oppression to promise, from chaos toward covenant. We encounter a God who hears the cries of the suffering, confronts the powers that bind, and makes a way where there seems to be none. This is not freedom for freedom’s sake, but freedom with purpose—shaped by relationship, guided by love, and rooted in God’s desire to dwell among the people. These stories invite us to wrestle with deep and essential questions: What does it mean to be truly free? How does God shape a people after setting them free? And how do we learn to trust God in the wilderness, when the path forward is still unfolding?
This is not just Israel’s story. It is our story, too. And you are here in it—still being formed, still being led, still held by the God who makes a way.

Remembering, Renewing & Resting in
GOD’S GOODNESS
The Covenant Renewal Service is a treasured part of our Methodist heritage. First used by John Wesley in the mid-1700s, this service was often held at the beginning of a new year as a way for the Methodist people to pause, remember God’s faithfulness, and renew their commitment to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. Wesley described these services as times of deep spiritual blessing—moments when people experienced forgiveness, renewal, healing, and a fresh awareness of God’s grace. At its heart, the Covenant Service is not about making resolutions, but about re-centering our lives in God’s love and grace.
Today’s service follows that same spirit, while being shaped for who we are as a congregation. We will worship through Scripture, prayer, music, and Holy Communion, and we will pray the historic Wesley Covenant Prayer together—placing our lives once again into God’s gracious care. This service invites us to remember where we have been, renew our trust in God, and rest in God’s faithfulness as we step into a new year. It is an invitation to draw closer to Christ, to abide in God’s Word, and to trust that God will continue shaping us for lives of love and fruitfulness.

It draws us closer to God, shapes our daily walk, and reminds us that we are part of one beautiful, unfolding story of God’s love.
